I know the experience of starting with a figure and then it turns into an illustration, its something that I wish would happen more often.
Its kinda funny actually, I was looking at some painting pertaining to mythology as reference for a project, in particular Birth of Venus, and somehow when I saw the title of this entry in my GoogleReader I read "Birth of Venus". You can imagine the shock when I saw that it wasn't. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen someone depict the birth of Athena before.
For an intellectual goddess she looks like she's ready to tear someone's throat out with her teeth! Awesome!
I just found your blog thanks to a Reboot image search on google, and this picture really sets an awesome tone. I love the pitch of balance in Athena's pose--it really captures the feeling that's she's leaping out at the moment of the capture. And Zeus' face is wonderful, capturing that look of agony that is about to turn into relief as he births the first of his true offspring.
NICE!!! Dude you're one of the 1st i've seen to do a Greek Mythological piece of a little known event. Athena is one of my fave Olympian's so always loved lot's of stuff about her, her birth being one of them. Nicely done dude
Amazing! I love this allegory. One question. I would use the image like cover of my ebook. I can? This is the book: http://www.mediafire.com/?9nj04drhi327qj9
